Igor Dzyaloshinskii
Russian theoretical physicist (1931–2021)
Igor Ekhielevich Dzyaloshinskii was a prominent Russian theoretical physicist, born in 1931. His work spanned multiple areas of physics, with a focus on the theoretical aspects of various phenomena. Dzyaloshinskii's research interests included the study of magnetism, multiferroics, and one-dimensional conductors, as well as the properties of liquid crystals and van der Waals forces.
Dzyaloshinskii's contributions to physics are notable, particularly his work on the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, a concept that bears his name. Throughout his career, he applied methods of quantum field theory to explore and understand complex physical systems. Dzyaloshinskii passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of significant contributions to the field of theoretical physics. His work continues to be relevant, influencing ongoing research in the areas he helped to shape during his lifetime.
