David Novak

David Novak is a prominent American rabbi and philosopher, born in 1941. He has established himself as a leading figure in Jewish studies, with a specialization in Jewish philosophy and law, also known as Halakha. As an ordained Conservative rabbi, Novak brings a unique perspective to his scholarly work, which spans multiple disciplines.

Novak has been affiliated with the University of Toronto since 1997, where he holds a distinguished chair as Professor of the Study of Religion and Professor of Philosophy. His research interests are diverse, encompassing Jewish theology, ethics, and biomedical ethics, as well as political theory and interfaith relations, particularly between Judaism and Christianity.
